During the lavender harvest season, we can discover a special side of Lake Balaton. Small dirt roads, slopes, sun-drenched plantations, the buzzing of bees, and that characteristic, soothing scent that instinctively slows you down. We stop, look around, pick a bouquet, either to take home, as a gift, or just because it feels good.
Lavender picking is not a programme, but rather an experience: a little break from everyday life, true hand-picked tranquility.
We would like to contribute to this with a special offer!
At Platán Garden & Rooms, we offer our guests a 25% discount as part of the Lavender Weeks promotion.
Book a room on our website between June 5 and July 2, 2026, and get a 25% discount! A credit card guarantee is sufficient for booking, no prepayment is required. The offer is valid until withdrawn.
When making a reservation, you only need to provide a credit card guarantee, which means that you are not required to pay a deposit. We will deduct 50% of the reservation value 21 days prior to arrival, and the remaining amount must be paid on the day of arrival at the hotel.
Who hasn't heard of the legendary Tihany Lavender Field or the Kőröshegy Tulip and Lavender Park? However, in addition to these iconic locations, there are countless lavender fields tucked away on both the northern and southern sides of the lake. These include popular destinations as well as more secluded, family-run lavender farms.

Platán Garden & Rooms is the perfect choice for a trip to Lake Balaton combined with lavender harvesting. Everything here is about relaxation. We welcome you with a buffet breakfast, which is included in the room rate, so you can start each day comfortably. The room rate also includes secure parking, so transportation is convenient and you don't have to search for a parking space when you arrive at the end of an eventful day.
Take advantage of the 25% discount, book accommodation for Lavender Weeks and visit several special estates, as each lavender harvest has its own unique atmosphere.
How about a flower picking trip combined with a ferry ride? Or perhaps you would like to cycle to an impressive lavender field? In addition to bouquets of flowers, do you enjoy lavender handicrafts, or are you just looking for some peaceful relaxation? We will show you the most important places around Lake Balaton, where you can enjoy many other experiences in addition to lavender harvesting.
One of the largest lavender estates in Hungary, boasting outstanding natural features, is the Kőröshegyi Tulipán and Lavender Park, located near Zamárdi. The site can be reached by car from Platán Garden & Rooms in less than 15 minutes. The park lies in a panoramic setting, offering visitors breathtaking views of Lake Balaton. Thanks to its well planned layout, the vast flower fields remain pleasantly spacious even during festivals, providing excellent opportunities for taking stunning photos and picking flowers.
The lavender harvest typically takes place in June, while in spring, visitors can enjoy the spectacular tulip harvest. It is the ideal choice for a peaceful yet eventful trip.
Tip
Relax with your pet at Platán Garden & Rooms and explore the blooming hillside together. The Kőröshegyi Tulipán and Lavender Park is dog-friendly, making it an ideal getaway for guests visiting with their furry friends.

This charming little flower garden in Siófok usually holds pick-your-own lavender weekends in June. Children can enjoy the playground, while adults are welcomed with fine wines, as well as cakes and sandwiches. The flower picking is complemented by the beloved mini craft fair. If you want to visit a quieter, more personal setting alongside the classic large lavender festivals, Énkertem Siófok is the perfect choice.
Tip
At Platán Garden & Rooms, bicycle rental is also available. Siófok is just a short ride from Zamárdi. Roll into the fragrant air and enjoy the beauty of the hillside dressed in purple, the fresh Balaton breeze, and the freedom of movement.
Heading west from Zamárdi, you may come across a hidden little lavender field in Somogy, which is also worth adding to your itinerary. The Balatoni Levendulás welcomes visitors in a stunning natural setting, spread over nearly 30,000 m² with around 50,000 young lavender plants, perfect for those who want to slow down and immerse themselves in a world of scents, colours, and summer moments.
Special programmes are also planned for June:

The northern shore is easily accessible from Zamárdi via the ferries departing from nearby Szántód. Whether you explore the other side by car or bicycle, one of the most scenic ways to travel is to take the ferry trip. Just 15 minutes rocking across Lake Balaton, and you’ll arrive in Tihany. The peninsula is one of the iconic locations for the lavender harvest, but from here you can also head to many other unique lavender estates.
One of the Balaton Highlands’ most atmospheric estates is the Levendárium Levendula Major, Dörgicse, where nature and art meet. In the carefully maintained thematic gardens, modern sculptures, numerous rose varieties, and lavender fields create a perfect harmony. The combination of scents, colours, and refined garden design gives the estate its unique sense of balance.
The estate has its own distillery, and locally made artisanal and organic products are also available. A few drops of pure lavender oil gently soothe the nervous system, relieve tension, and enhance the experience of rest and relaxation.
Tip
Platán Garden & Rooms also offers a Finnish sauna. Complete your relaxation with a few drops of lavender oil and end the day in perfect serenity!
The Saint Blaise Hill Lavender Field is a true little gem. This hidden, family-run lavender estate is lovingly cared for by its owners. It’s the perfect choice for those who want to experience the lavender harvest in a quieter, less crowded setting.
The medieval church ruins on Saint Blaise Hill are one of the most beautiful spots in the Nivegy Valley, offering stunning panoramic views of the Káli Basin, the sparkling waters of Lake Balaton, and the distinctive Badacsony ridge. The carefully preserved 13th-century ruins exude a serene and unique atmosphere, making it a perfect stop for a slower, experience-focused exploration of the Balaton region.
This charming Provence-style estate on the northern shore of Lake Balaton welcomes visitors with French and English lavender varieties. Different flowers bloom at different times, so you can enjoy the flower-picking experience not only in June but throughout the summer, and in spring there’s even the opportunity to pick daffodils.
In the 2025 season, the estate also hosted special programmes such as singing bowl baths. The meditative effect of the sounds perfectly complements the calm atmosphere of the lavender estate. In the distance, as far as the eye can see: forests, hills, and nature. For the 2026 season, the organisers are preparing several similar experiences, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the current programmes.
The connection between Tihany and lavender goes back nearly 100 years. The first plants arrived here in the 1920s, and since then, the summers have been accompanied by spectacular blooms. The peninsula rising above Lake Balaton, with its exceptional natural features, panoramic views of the lake, and Mediterranean-style landscape, makes the village a remarkable travel destination in its own right.
During the lavender bloom, all of this is further enriched with cultural programmes and events:
We hope the atmosphere of the lavender harvest has captured your interest and inspired you to enjoy this calm, fragrant summer experience. We warmly invite you to experience this special season in person, relax, and take home a piece of the magic of lavender.
Visit Lake Balaton and unwind close to nature. Our hotel’s calm, welcoming atmosphere is the perfect complement to the lavender programmes. The comfortable rooms, well-kept green garden, and excellent location of Platán Garden & Rooms provide everything you could expect from a truly relaxing holiday.
